Camping and Touring
A new section which I am hoping to expand overtime. I am looking forward to getting some bike touring/camping in and thought I would start by using the mountain bike with the milk crate. Looking to go for an overnight camp at Cattai National Park. The park is 30 minutes from my house at Kings Langley. A colleague of mine lives at Cattai so I had a discussion with him as he knows the area. There is bike path for about half the way but then it is main roads. Some of these main roads are two way single lanes at about 80km/h with quite a few bends. I have been told about some back roads that are a bit safer as I will be going a bit slower than normal due to carrying some gear with me. So I'll have to do some web surfing, mapping, check out a few cycling forums on Cattai and get my Garmin GPS out to find the safest route possible and then plot it on the system. I still have to learn how to use it properly as I got it second hand with no manuals etc. I mainly use it for distance, time, average speed, travel time etc.
Cattai National Park, NSW
I'm looking to head over to Cattai National Park for a trial run in touring and camping. It's only about 35km from my house but for the trip I figured it will be a good run for testing out the bikes capabilities. Riding all the hills, using panniers and carrying my tent and sleeping bag, food, water etc. I also want to test out either a solar panel or a dynamo hub usb charger mounted to the stem of the bike. We'll see how I go. I'll document the prep for the trip in another section of the website. Can't wait to get started.
Bicycle Touring Pro - Information for Touring
This is a brilliant resource for cycle touring. This guy has dedicated his life to it and the information he has provided on the web is invaluable. I have purchase his book "The Bicycle Touring Blueprint" and have regularly been watching his movies on youtube and utilising the information on his website. Check out all the information using this link below.
