Company Photoshoot - Pitt St, Sydney
16 November 2011 - 4pm
The Room Setup & Equipment Used
My sis recently scored a new job in the city with a great company. The boss wanted headshots of all the employees for their portfolios and possibly for the website too. My sister asked if I was interested as they were not fussed about a super professional shoot. Professionals were asking for $150-$450 per headshot! I wasn't that fussed. In fact I have no idea what to charge or have even thought about it. I was just excited for the opportunity to be doing the shoot to get some practice out in the real world.
Initiall when she called about it I was super nervous and putting alot of pressure on myself. But after I got some help from Paul (bro-in-law) and practiced abit in my garage with different lighting conditions etc. I was ready and not as stressed about it. I also emailed my professional help, Tom Evangelidis (tomevangelidis.com.au) for some advice and what equipment to use. Thank you so much!
This is the list of equipment that I took with me. I only had to buy one thing which I bought second hand and didn't cost much:
* Canon EOS 550D Body (main camera)
* Canon EOS 20D Body (back-up that I never used, but still should be taken)
* Canon 17-85mm Ultrasonic Zoom Lens
* Canon 50mm f1.8 Fixed Lens
* Canon Speedlite 220EX (basic automatic-only flash, no tilt or swivel)
* Two Tripods (I had to borrow one from Paul to mount the flash)
* Canon OC-03 Flash Sync Chord (to mount the flash to the side. $50 second hand, ebay)
* My Car Sunshade (to use as a reflector)
* Measuring Tape
* Masking Tape
* Lens Cloth / Cleaner
* Spare batteries for everything
I made sure I carried a regular backpack with my two smaller camera bags inside to protect the gear. I didn't use the Lowepro camera bag. Wasn't fussed about advertising the fact that I was carrying all this camera equipment inside.
The Room Setup
I'll update soon with more information.
